For Mother’s Day my family got me gift cards- which is funny because I have never gotten a gift card in my life from them! Usually Bradley would just go out and fill a bag and I get lots of goodies! But this time with my changing sizes I don’t think he knew what I needed so he bought me a shopping spree instead. I’m not complaining at all
Last night we headed out to see what’s in the store. I tried lots on and settled for a pair of white jeans and two shirts. Tshirts are the one thing that has surprised me- mine all fit me like sails now and I have very few that actually fit me anymore. For some reason I knew I’d need to get smaller pants, but I didn’t thing big Tshirts would look that bad. Ahem. They do. I have bought five smaller tshirts over the past two weeks. I think I’m set now.
The coolest thing? Instead of fitting between an 18-20, I now fit the 16-18 range and can wear a large or extra large in Old Navy sizes. I was able to try on ANYTHING I wanted in the store. ANYTHING. Do you know how amazing that is for a fat girl? I can shop IN the store, not only online. I can shop ANY rack- not just the ones in ‘Women’s World’ or marked ‘plus size’. The whole place is meant for me now. AMAZEBALLS.
In my life I’ve always been so limited- as a vegetarian there are usually 2-3 things on any average menu I can choose from to eat. As a plus sized girl I have very few styles to choose clothes from and few places to buy them at. As a teacher I am censored in my actions and words both in and out of the classroom. To have one of those oppressive things lifted is very freeing… And just a touch overwhelming but I’ll take it!
Anyhow, it just occurred to me how to use those gift cards. They are now my reward cards for when I do well or meet a goal. If I do well, Mama’s getting sumtin’ purdy.
